Dyskinetic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy
Deirdre Glynn is aged 9 years and 6 months, she was born with transposition of the great arteries. Deirdre had hypoxic encephalopathy as a new born and has dyskinetic quadriplegic cerebral palsy and epilepsy as a result. She had many problems and before TST her development was very slow.
The changes we have noted since Deirdre started
The Scotson Technique Therapy include:
- Much improved head control
- Improved ability to feed and swallow (As a result mealtimes do not take as long).
- No more clenched teeth
- Less drooling
- More vocalisation
- Better trunkal control
- Clasps both hands to the midline in front with rudimentary purposeful hand use (before Deirdre’s hands usually were behind her line of vision and she made no attempts at useful use of them
- Generally strengthened and more attentive
- Can move small distances when on the floor
- Deirdre is overall more content
