For Children

THE LINDA SCOTSON TECHNIQUE (LST) FOR CHILDREN

For developmental difficulties and chronic conditions in children.

ST is based the use of gently controlled, hand delivered, breath like pressures to restore the strength of the diaphragm muscle and increase its ability to perform and integrate its complex respiratory, circulatory and postural roles.

The diaphragm’s many roles make it uniquely central to all aspects of physical and mental health and all developmental processes including: movement, sensory integration, learning ability, emotional development, behaviour and digestive health.

The quality of life of children with special needs such as cerebral palsy, autism and developmental delay and children with problems related to anxiety, behaviour, eating, sleep, health and prematurity, is affected by the quality of their diaphragm development

The LST approach sees a weak diaphragm as the missing link preventing better outcomes from many chronic conditions.

A child’s diaphragm is particularly vulnerable to pre or post-natal stress affecting oxygen delivery to the brain. Variations in the timing of the stress whether in early or later pregnancy or post-natal, or later in a child’s life (such as a stroke, head- injury or illness) as well as the frequency and duration of the stress, will affect the diaphragm differently

LST can therefore be directed towards many different conditions.
